Our packages are designed to be flexible, from basic demo tracking, to the full production of your single, EPs and Albums. The song writing and production process is outlined below, and provides an explanation of what each element involves.

Song writing Sessions:

  • foundations of the song: melody, harmony rhythm

  • melody and lyric ideas

  • putting music to your words

  • looking at lyrics – forms, prose, types of rhymes, line balance

Pre-Production

  • Creating the aesthetic to create the song for your chosen genre

  • Referencing and analysing existing music of your favour artists to see what you love about the way their music is created.

  • Working in the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) to begin creating your music:

  • Setting the song structure and tempo

  • Experimenting and programming the drum groove that works best for you and your track

  • Basic track arrangement and layering of harmony instruments: bass, guitars, keys

  • Basic lead vocal tracking

  • Review of song in readiness for Recording and Production

Recording:

  • Final lead vocal recording based on feed back from review

  • Arrangement and recording of backing vocals (as required)

  • Recording of any new arrangements of existing instruments

  • Recording of additional overdubs

  • *If required, replacing programmed drums with live drums

Post Production and Editing

  • Edit and composite vocal and instrument takes

  • Cleaning audio tracks

  • Review track to see whether any additional music production elements are required.

  • Add / record additional production

Mixing

  • shape and balance the elements of the recording

  • adding effects such as reverb and delay to tie in all the recorded elements

  • adding creative effects to give the song production its distinct identity

Mastering

  • Completed by a seperate Mastering Engineer of your choice, or one selected by us at your request.

  • Balancing the sonic elements of a stereo mix, and optimize it for playback across all systems (headphones, HiFi, car stereo, TV) and media formats (streaming, CDs)

  • For EPs and Albums, making sure that each song is aesthetically consistent, and the same volume

  • Applying the International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) to your track(s). This is a unique number encoded into the file that serves as digital fingerprint. The ISRC provides the means to automatically identify recordings for royalty payments, which are then distributed by organisations like the Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA).
